14 Januari 2011 lalu salah seorang mahasiswa Osaka University memenangkan PENGHARGAAN IKUSHI/IKUSHI PRIZE.
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science announced  on Wednesday, January 13 that HORIE Masayuki, a 4th-year student in Osaka University’s Graduate School of Medicine has won the first Ikushi Prize of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science’s Ikushi Prize was established on the 20th anniversary of Emperor Akihito’s accession to the imperial throne through an imperial donation to support and encourage young researchers who work steadily despite severe economic conditions. HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY

Hokkaido University memang tidak masuk dalam TOP 10 BEST UNIVERSITIES IN JAPAN versi 2011 University Web Rankings (#16), dan bicara soal kualitas, hampir semua Universitas-universitas di Jepang TIDAKLAH PERLU DIRAGUKAN KUALITASNYA apalagi salah satu PROFESSOR HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY mendapatkan NOBEL PRIZE di BIDANG CHEMISTRY tahun 2010 lalu tapi saya memasukkan Universitas ini dalam daftar dan berada di No. 4  semata-mata karena Universitas ini terletak di SNOWY PLACE!!

Dan bagi manusia-manusia TROPIS, SALJU tentunya memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bukan?? hehehe

Universitas SWASTA ini adalah UNIVERSITAS NOMOR WAHID DI JEPANG versi perolehan sementara 2011 University Web Rankings (Japan) dan termasuk salah satu UNIVERSITAS TERTUA DI DUNIA, dengan sejarah lebih dari 150 tahun. Jurusan yang ditawarkan antara lain education, research, medicine, medical care, social interaction and international collaboration dengan 10 faculties and 14 graduate schools. Selain itu Universitas ini memakai English-based education untuk memudahkan mahasiswa Internasional dalam proses pengajaran.

WASEDA UNIVERSITY berada di #2 daftar perolehan sementara 2011 University Web Rankings (Japan). Salah satu dosen pengajar di Universitas ini adalah WARGA NEGARA INDONESIA dari Surabaya, Prof. Ken K. Soetanto. Sang Professor meraih GELAR DOKTOR 4 KALI dari jurusan berbeda yakni, bidang Applied Electronic Engineering di Tokyo Institute of Technology (TOKODAI), Medical Science dari Tohoku University, dan Pharmacy Science di Science University of Tokyo.
